The Power Wagon, a gasless and garbageless generator.

Submitted by Andrew Stone on Thursday, 22 January 2009Comments

Today I received a contact on my blog from Paul Wilks who is the inventor of the power wagon, a gasless generator that recharges while you drive and tow it behind your car.  A drive of 70 miles can recharge you for several days worth of power.

powerwagon-019Before you poo poo the idea as crazy I suggest that you jump over his site and check it out.  There are two models available, one generates 3500 watts of power and the other generates 5 KW! I definitely like this better than the generator that takes garbage to generate power.  I know that you can quickly run out of garbage at the  work site (especially at a zero-waste site) or on a camping trip, plus you do not need supplemental diesel fuel at all.

Now for those who also say that you are wasting fuel by driving around to charge it, our-photos-096think about construction workers who drive to the site everyday.  This would be a great option for them.  Also, what if you built this into a motor home, news van or personal vehicle?  A vehicle already being driven anyway.  Another plus for construction sites is that you can use corded instead of cordless tools with no generator fumes and no need to buy countless cordless tool batteries, thus reducing garbage in the landfill and pull on the electrical grid.

A New Concept in Generator Power

The POWERWAGON is a brand new, portable trailer power generator that provides clean, quiet and renewable energy wherever it is needed most. The POWERWAGON series of generators takes battery-run generators to a whole new level.  The POWERWAGON 5000 watt power system can supply enough electricity to run a home or construction site with no emissions, virtually no noise, and no storage of fuel, maintenance, oil changes, etc. – providing a sensational value.

Mounted on a rugged, extra heavy duty trailer, The POWERWAGON can be driven almost anywhere and recharges as you drive – making it perfect for applications ranging from emergency preparation/humanitarian aid and construction jobsite use to recreation and home back-up power.  Built for reliability and toughness, it excels in the most extreme conditions.

What sets The POWERWAGON apart from other power generators?

Clean & Safe – 100% emission free with no carbon monoxide, the top reason for power generator related deaths reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Low Cost & Maintenance – no fuel or oil consumption provides cost efficiency.
No Noise – 100% silent, eliminating one of the major complaints associated with construction.

  • Wow this is a brilliant invention, you can save a lot of electricity and help the environment at the same time.

The PowerWagon is a great idea for going green! I wished my family and I had this with the hurricaines down in Florida. Our neighbors had a gas generator and it made us very sick. The fumes were awful and the noise made it hard to sleep. I say wonderful to the whole thing! Look forward to seeing this used more so than the gas generators. Great Job Mr. Wilks!!!

What a great idea? I'm a contractor. I saw you fire up a saw-zaw there. How long can I use this on the job site. I'm sure it's relative to how MUCH I use it, but I realize it's 5000W and that's the same as my gas burning generator I have now. But how long can I use the Powerwagon before I have to recharge it?

absolutely great invention, Its been said that great ideas comes once in a life time , But I' m here to tell you that since the first automoble was already invented before my time, as was the first television, There comes another great idea, And being a veteran of the vietnam era i'm here to tell you this is such an needed invention, and being a former national guard member .I can tell you this the uses of this equipment is endlessly .So many builders could be using www.thepowerwagon.com for rebuilding so many devastated areas all across america. And quietly as u go i' ve seen an invention be brought to life, Its truly an incredible invention, As i salute you for your efforts.keep on pressing,Till you are totaly realized. As being a player in the worlds market place of great inventions Signed Sarg VFW post U.S.A. "veterans listen up"
  • I have seen this baby in action, and I must tell you it is more than you think it is. I was so blown away, I had to jump on board the team.

This IS a great invention! I had the opportunity to see one last week in Mclean county KY. The trailer ran the coolers in our local store and was totally quiet! I could really see this idea going a long way to help people in disaster areas like ours. Thank you guys for the help and power.

thank you ecozebra & Andrew Stone for putting this on your site. What a great site this is . we can learn alot from this site. As well as the power wagon site. This power wagon is the best invention yet. The things you can use this for is endless. Cant wait to try this out. And save on the environment.
  • Thank you all for the comments. It really is an amazing idea. The uses are endless.

Wow, this is a really good idea. In the case of natural disasters, or emergencies this would be a ideal piece of equipment. It would save in the burning of gas, and would be great for our environment. It seems that this century is geared toward being "green". I think this is a big step in that direction! Keep up the good work Paul.

This is a great idea! Love it and can't wait to see it out on the market! This is what areas of natural disasters need also. Kentucky just lost 27 people due to no power because of bad snow/ice storm. Some of them died because of carbon monoxide poisoning while using gas generators. If the PowerWagon was used, none of these lives would have been lost. Great job PowerWagon!
  • Great idea! Like you said, this would be ideal for contractors. Think of all the miles driven by vehicles today, we should find a way to harness all that energy, in addition to moving a car forward.
