New from TerraCycle – The latest in home decor comes from your garbage.

Submitted by Andrew Stone on Monday, 9 March 2009Comments

The folks at TerraCycle have done it again by creating yet another amazing product from our trash.  The first home decor line from TerraCylce.  The innovative upcycler of everything from fax machines to candy wrappers and everything in between has come out with a new line of clocks, coasters and picture frames from your old circuit boards and vinyl records.  Another way to upcycle our waste into useful everyday products and look great doing it.

I would say that besides looking pretty cool, the next best thing is that every one of these items comes at a price of only $12.99.  It can’t get much better than that.

Technology progresses at an astounding rate and a trail of trash is close in tow. Every time consumers upgrade their PC, TV, stereo, or other electronics, they add to the colossal stream of e–waste. In 2005, Americans generated 2.6 million tons of e–waste according to the EPA1. Of this amount, only 12.6% was recycled. Continuing the Trash Revolution, TerraCycle reuses circuit boards to create new products.

With the prevalence of digital media and portable music players, (and CD’s before that) vinyl records have truly fallen by the wayside. While serious collectors hang on to their vintage discs, the average person is disposing of the records that have been collecting dust in the attic. TerraCycle Vinyl Record products are perfect for the nostalgic type, and for the music fan who wants to enjoy the roots of their passion every day in their home of office.

Don’t forget that TerraCylce will also happily assist your organization with fundraising by paying you to collect waste and then send it to them for upcycling.  Click here for more information.

  • This seems oddly interesting enough that it may just work in a contemporary decor setting.. perhaps adorned as wall arts.
