Elemental Herbs – Getting it right from the start.

It is time again for the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.  Held twice a year in Salt Lake City this is a great opportunity to meet one on one with many companies that are producing green products in a green way.  As with past shows I am trying to keep my posts directed toward those companies that are green from the heart out.  I will not be posting on those that have just filled a green niche while making no efforts to green the rest of their business model.

On an elemental, pure and basic level, the roots of healing are in the earth. To care for one self is to care for the earth. Elemental Herbs is a tribute to this inherent connection between wilderness and wellness, and evaluates company progress through social, environmental and economic measures.

EH_All_Good_Goop_CMYK_lgCaroline Duell, founder of Elemental Herbs, started the company with one product, All Good Goop, after putting together a medicinal herb garden for a friend.  Those herbs turned into what is now the keystone product for Elemental Herbs. When we met Caroline gave me a sample of the product and after an initial use, I like it.  It works for everything from diaper rash to burns and scrapes to chapped hands, so it should get some good use in my house. I’ll keep you posted on my impressions.  Expanding out from this product elemental has grown the line to include sunscreens and lip balms.

Elemental Herbs is a member of One Percent for the Planet and Green America Business Network; endorses the campaign for safe All Good Lips small JPEGcosmetics, and tests its products on humans, not on animals. The company partners with like-minded businesses such as Patagonia Footwear to further the movement of market driven environmentalism.

Elemental Herbs’ vehicles run on bio-diesel (produced from waste oil), product packaging is always recyclable and recycled when possible, ingredients are organically grown and/or sustainably sourced, and marketing materials are always printed on post consumer recycled paper.  A supply chain/carbon audit is in process for each product, and research is being conducted for cutting edge eco-packaging.

It is exciting when you can find a company like this one.  A green from the start organization that is continuing their green commitment while growing and expanding.  I look forward to their future success and urge you to try out their product line.
